If you are interested in seeing more, here are a few things I do when I have time to spare…

Software and Gear I Have Mastered

I’m not afraid of software—in fact, I enjoy learning it. Whether it’s for design, editing, modeling, or engineering, I tend to pick up new tools quickly. Most software shares about 80% of its structure and logic. The remaining 20% is where the philosophy shifts, but I don’t worry. Once I understand the purpose, the rest falls into place. I’ve worked with everything from creative suites like Adobe and DaVinci Resolve, to engineering tools like AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and MATLAB—I used those in college and every now and then I must use them again, but that’s non-media production so I wont go into details with those.

Former coworkers can vouch: I don’t get overwhelmed by new systems, I get curious. I’ve never felt like tools take up “too much space” in my brain. If anything, they organize themselves by purpose. Same with gear—whether it’s a modern camera rig, analog film, or even vintage sound equipment, I’m eager to dive in. I’ve worked with Super 8, still shoot on film, and hope to experiment with 16mm and analog audio as soon as the right project and timing align. Until then, I’m always ready to learn and never afraid to get my hands dirty.

A few other things…

I’m a first-generation American, born to a mother who was a nurse and social worker in Mexico, and a father who worked as a carpenter and farmworker. Among my six siblings—all of whom pursued engineering or STEM fields—I initially thought I’d follow the same path. But life had other plans, leading me to a career in media production.

Yet, the most important part of my story isn’t about what I do—it’s about who I do it for. My greatest pride and joy come from the family I’ve built with my beautiful wife and our children. They’ve taught me to see the world through a lens of wonder, to find joy in the everyday, and to rediscover the magic and mystery in life. They remind me that beyond all the projects and productions, my heart belongs to them. Through their love and laughter, I’ve learned that life is full of beauty and hope. So yes, I’m a media production professional—but first and foremost, I’m a family man. Everything I do is for them.
